What is a MaP score?

The Maximum Performance (MaP) test was developed by the Canadian National Research Council to give consumers an objective way to compare toilet flush performance. The test uses soybean paste media to simulate solid waste and measures how many grams a toilet can clear in a single flush.

MaP score ranges

Score RangeRatingWhat It Means
800–1000g★ ExcellentHandles heavy use, very unlikely to clog
500–799gGoodAdequate for most households
350–499gFairMay struggle with heavy loads

How to use the MaP Score Lookup

Type any toilet brand name, model name, or model number in the search box above. The tool searches our verified product database and shows you the MaP score, water efficiency, flush system type, and trapway size for each match.

Where do MaP scores come from?

MaP scores in our database come from two sources:

  1. map-testing.com — The official registry maintained by utilities and the Canadian National Research Council. These scores are independently verified.
  2. Manufacturer specifications — When a model is not listed on map-testing.com, we note this and use the manufacturer's claimed score with a disclosure.

We always note the source so you know whether a score is independently verified or manufacturer-claimed.

How we rank & our data sources

We do not run physical lab tests. Rankings are built from published, verifiable data and real owner feedback, never paid placement.
